APM Painting & Decorating is the working name of Andrej Martincek — an Auckland-wide painter and decorator who has spent the last two decades doing the same patient, preparation-first work, one house at a time.

Andrej Martincek established APM in 2005 as a sole trader after fifteen-plus years on the brush — first in Europe, then across Auckland. His priority is the dull, careful, unglamorous part of the trade: the surface beneath the paint. Drop sheets laid before a lid is opened. Loose paint scraped back. Cracks filled. Silicone replaced. Primer applied. Two top coats, never one. He works Auckland-wide, will travel further when the job warrants it, and keeps flexible hours so the work fits around the customer rather than the other way around. Painting is a small word for a long list of jobs. APM offers eight distinct disciplines under one tradesman's hand — from the residential repaint that gets all the attention down to the wallpaper stripping, gib-stopping, and water-blasting that nobody sees but everybody benefits from.

A thorough exterior preparation routine — drop sheets, OSH-compliant scaffolding, water blasting, removal of all loose paint, replacement of perished silicone, gap-filling, and primers — so the finish coats adhere and last.
Every interior surface cleaned. Loose paint scraped and sanded away. Cracks and holes filled, sanded back, and primed before the finishing coats go on — so the rooms read as new, not painted-over.
Wallpaper removed cleanly, the wall behind it repaired with plaster and surface fill, and the resulting substrate prepared so the next finish — paint or paper — sits flat and lasts.
Gib stopping and plasterboard fixing on new builds and renovations. New walls and repaired surfaces brought to a paint-ready level-four finish.
Professional roof painting — preparation, priming and two finishing coats applied to long-run iron, profile metal and tile.
Interior and exterior varnishing of timber — front doors, joinery, decks and trim. Hand-sanded, well-coated, properly cured.
High-pressure water blasting of exterior surfaces — driveways, fences, weatherboards — to remove dirt, grime and loose paint in preparation for repainting.

APM is based at 7 Mary Street, Mount Eden — but Andrej travels across Auckland for every job, and beyond Auckland when the work warrants it. Hours are flexible: he can work around your schedule, including weekends and out of normal hours, to fit the job in around your life.
